Laurus nobilis - Sweet Bay tree ORGANIC

Bay Tree, Sweet: M, N, *, Apr-May

EVERGREEN TREE growing to 1.5m (5ft) by 1.2m (4ft) in ten years. Hardy to zone 7. Any well-drained soil, in a warm site for nectar flow. Plant ideally in a warm, sheltered, well-drained part of the garden, and keep the plant mulched around its roots during winter, especially when young, as the tree can survive virtually any winter if its roots are kept warmer in the ground, than in a pot. It is in flower from Apr to May. Masses of inconspicuous yellow-green flowers provide nectar flow in mild weather. The Bay tree has a long history of folk use in the treatment of many ailments, as an aid to digestion and in the treatment of bronchitis and influenza. It has also been used to treat various types of cancer. The flowers are dioecious (Plants are either male or female so both need to be grown for fruiting) and are pollinated by Bees. Produces NECTAR. 3L seed grown £8.50
