Lavandula angustifolia - Old English Lavender ORGANIC 0.25g

English Lavender: M, N, P, B,**, Jul-Sept

EVERGREEN SHRUB growing to 1.2 m (4ft) by 1 m (3ft 3in). Likes well-drained (not acid) soil. Hardy to zone 5. It is in flower from July to September. A major source of nectar and pollen, it yields 70-120 pounds of honey per acre, and 250-300 pounds of pollen. Producing abundant, blue, sweetly aromatic flowers, it is specially useful for helping bees build up their winter reserves of fat and protein. Its essential oil may assist bees in ridding themselves of varroa mites (the mites appear to hate the smell of Lavender). Medicinally used for anti-depressant and relaxing properties. The oil of this species is prized by many people around the world over and above other Lavender oils. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, lepidoptera. It is noted for attracting wildlife.
