NATIVE PERENNIAL growing to 1 m (3ft 3in) by 0.5 m (1ft 8in). Prefers light, poor soil. Hardy to zone 3. It is in flower from July to September. This is a widely acclaimed bee plant producing amber honey with a strong mint flavour which remains liquid for months. Also a well known medicinal herb containing Leonurine: a remedy for heart palpitations, strengthening a weak heart. A very attractive, almost architectural plant with deeply-lobed, palmate leaves and mauve-pink to white flowers with purple-spotted lips produced, like the leaves, in whorls around the central stem.The flowers are pollinated by Bees.
