NATIVE WILDFLOWER PERENNIAL growing to 0.8 m (2ft 7in) by 0.6 m (2ft). Does well in dry soil grassland. Hardy to zone 3. It is in flower from July to August. Leaves are eaten raw (or cooked) with a mild, pleasant flavour. They make a good perennial substitute for lettuce in a salad, producing fresh leaves from spring until the middle of summer, or until the autumn from spring germinated plants. Medicinally similar, though inferior, to Althaea officinalis. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, self. Produces POLLEN & NECTAR. SEEDS 1g/£1.55.
