Monarda fistulosa - Wild Bergamot ORGANIC 4 plants
Wild Bergamot: M, N, P, B, *, T!, July-September
PERENNIAL growing to 0.8 m (2ft 7in) by 0.4 m (1ft 4in). Prefers dry sites.
It is hardy to zone 6 and is in flower from July to September. With stunning flowers similar to M. didyma, though pale lavender in colour and not such high levels of ‘Thymol’ (see the description of M.didyma), but its advantage is that it tolerates dry and alkaline soil (and doesn't seem to suffer from mildew as much as M.didyma). The leaves (and flowers) are edible raw or cooked and used as flavouring, in the same way as M.didyma. The flowers are pollinated by Bees. Produces POLLEN & NECTAR. It is noted for attracting wildlife. 4 x 9cm plants £10.00
