Origanum vulgare hirtum - Greek Oregano, 4 plants 1L
Greek Oregano: M, N, P, B, *, Jul-Sept, T!
PERENNIAL HERB growing to 0.6 m (2ft) by 0.6 m (2ft in). Does not stand in grassland nor need calcareous soil (which O.vulgare does). An ideal rockery plant. Hardy to zone 5. It is in flower from July to September. This species is fully hardy and with all the benefits of O.vulgare and doing well on more acid sites - we have actually found this species even more robust throughout hot summers and extremely cold winters (their leaves remaining bright) - and it is slightly larger leaved than the O. vulgare species. Has been used as a culinary and medicinal herb for thousands of years, and is one of nature’s best antiseptics due to its high ‘Thymol’ content – which helps bees control varroa mites. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, lepidoptera. Produces POLLEN & NECTAR. It is noted for attracting wildlife. PLANTS Four 1 Litre pots £7.00
