Rhodiola rosea - Roseroot

NATIVE PERENNIAL. Syn. Sedum rosea, S. rhodiola, growing to 0.3 m (1ft) by 0.3 m (1ft in). Prefers very well-drained, rocky sites. Hardy to zone 1. It is in flower May to July. This is a sedum which grows in many cold regions of the world from the Arctic to the British Isles. It has for thousands of years been used medicinally and is now classed as an ‘Adaptogen’ – An elite group of top medicinal herbs classed as safe and effective. R. rosea has been shown to increase resilience to cold and stress, increasing mental and physical stamina. It is dioecious, meaning both male and female plants are needed, so it is recommended to plant one male for up to eight females for optimum seeds.
