NATIVE DECIDUOUS SHRUB growing to 3 m (9ft) by 3 m (9ft) at a fast rate. Thrives in most soils but prefers heavier soils.
Hardy to zone 3. It is in flower from June to July, and the rosehips ripen from October to December. A notable source of pollen, it may yield 80 pounds. It produces large, beautifully scented flowers of pink and white hues and although it offers just pollen to bees, it is nevertheless well worth growing. The petals and hips are being investigated as a food that is capable of reducing the incidence of cancer and also as a means of halting or reversing the growth of cancers. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, flies, beetles, lepidoptera, self. Produces POLLEN. It is noted for attracting wildlife.
