Creeping Thyme or Wild Thyme: M, N, P, B, *, Jul-Aug
PERENNIAL EVERGREEN HERB growing to 0.1 m (0ft 4in) by 0.3 m (1ft). An ideal rockery plant. Hardy to zone 5. It is in flower from July to August. A major nectar and pollen source, it yields 50-150 pounds of honey per acre, and 200-250 pounds of pollen. A low growing sub-shrub producing clumps of pink to purple, strongly scented flowers. Has been used as a culinary and medicinal herb for thousands of years, and is one of nature’s best antiseptics due to its high ‘Thymol’ content – which helps bees control varroa mites. Used by us it is strongly antiseptic and promotes healing, reducing spasms and aiding digestion. *A very high yielding bee plant in relation to its size. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, flies, lepidoptera. It is noted for attracting wildlife. SEEDS packet 0.3g £1.55.
