ANNUAL/PERENNIAL WILDFLOWER growing to 0.2 m (0ft 6in) by 0.2 m (0ft 6in). Prefers well-drained soil and dappled shade. It is hardy to zone 4. It is in flower from April to September. Beautiful tri-coloured flowers with exceptionally long season are edible, as are the leaves and used as garnish to food. Medicinally it is taken for the treatment of skin complaints such as eczema. The herb is antiasthmatic, anti-inflammatory, and cardiac, amongst other things. The flowers are pollinated by Bees, self. Produces NECTAR. The plant is self-fertile.
